After multiple visits to Alabama’s Beaches, I’ve learned that this stretch of Alabama’s Gulf Coast has a different personality depending on when you visit and where you stay. On our most recent girls’ getaway, we booked two condo rentals at Turquoise Place in Tower D, and this post is my honest review of that experience.
I’m sharing what the condos were actually like, how the amenities functioned in real life, what stood out about the stay, and whether this beachfront resort is truly worth it for a spring trip.
We planned this as a work-cation with a group of girlfriends, which meant we needed space to spread out during the day but still wanted those classic beach trip moments at night. Turquoise Place ended up striking that balance beautifully.
Mornings started with laptops open around a massive kitchen table, afternoons drifted between exploring and resting, and evenings meant sitting outside in the cool coastal air, the Gulf in view, catching up in the warmth of our own private balcony hot tubs.

Condo Layout in Units 1407 and 1409
We stayed in two units, D1407 & D1409, in November of 2025, and both offered more space than we expected. One of the biggest benefits for our girls getaway was that everyone had their own bathroom and generously sized bedroom, which immediately removes so much of the friction that can come with group travel.
Unit 1409 felt especially expansive. Each of the four bedrooms had large windows with Gulf views, and the overall layout offered a huge amount of space. There were multiple lounge areas, including a large living room, a spacious kitchen, and two seating areas on the private balcony. This particular unit even had three separate dishwashers, which is surprisingly ideal for groups that love to cook, snack, and entertain without constantly rotating dishes.
Unit 1407 offered three bedrooms, a full kitchen, living room, and balcony, but with a slightly cozier feel. It would be a great option for a group that doesn’t need quite as much square footage but still wants the benefits of a full condo rental.
Across both units, the kitchens were stocked with the basics, and having in-unit laundry machines would make a big difference for a multi-week stay.
Between the bedrooms, kitchen island seating, living room couches, and balcony furniture, we always had somewhere to spread out. Some of us worked in the mornings while others took a beach walk or eased into the day, then we’d regroup to collaborate before heading out to explore or relax in the afternoon.
That slower, more flexible rhythm is one of the biggest advantages of a spring or fall trip to Orange Beach.

The Private Balcony, With a Hot Tub
One of the most unique features at Turquoise Place is that every unit includes a private balcony with its own hot tub. Not a shared rooftop situation or a ground-level spa, but your own personal setup overlooking the Gulf.
On our trip, this quickly became our favorite evening ritual. After a full day of working, walking the beach, or exploring the town, we would head back upstairs, pour a glass of wine, and sit outside in the cool coastal air with the sound of the waves in the background. It felt cozy without being crowded, and private without feeling isolated from the energy of the beach below.
Being in the warm hot tub, cool air breezing, and the sound of the waves below is *chef’s kiss*
The balcony itself also added another true lounge space to the condo. Between the outdoor seating, the hot tub, and a view of the Gulf stretching out across the horizon, it gave us room to gather together for quiet mornings or slow afternoons while still having plenty of space inside. It’s one of those features that sounds like a bonus when you book, but ends up being a highlight of the stay.
Amenities at Turquoise Place in Orange Beach
One of the biggest advantages of staying at Turquoise Place, especially for a multi-night trip, is having access to full resort-style amenities while still enjoying the privacy of a condo rental. It gives everyone the freedom to move at their own pace. Part of the group can relax at the pool, someone else can read on the balcony, another can head down to the beach, and someone can sneak in a quick gym session, all without feeling like you have to stick together every minute.
That flexibility is especially nice in the spring or fall, when the pace feels slower and the property never feels overly crowded.
Amenities at Turquoise Place include:
- Complementary starter toiletries
- Beach towels provided
- Outdoor pool with water slide
- Lazy river
- Direct beach access
- Beach chair rentals available on-site
- Indoor pool
- Multiple hot pools
- Sauna
- Small beachfront gym
- On-site restaurant by the pool
For cooler mornings or evenings, the indoor pool, hot tubs, and sauna give you options beyond the beach and outdoor pools.
Having the on-site restaurant downstairs is convenient for low-key nights when no one feels like cooking, even though the full kitchens in each condo make it easy to prepare simple meals.
There is also the option to order ahead prepared food from Sarah’s Homemade.
If you book directly through Spectrum Resorts rather than a third-party or private owner, there are additional perks, including access to the Spectrum Club Lounge, free daily breakfast, and mid-week housekeeping.
What Makes Turquoise Place Great for a Spring Girls Trip
Turquoise Place works especially well for a girls getaway because it balances space, flexibility, and easy access to everything you want to do in Orange Beach. On our work-cation we spent the mornings working around the kitchen table, the afternoon exploring things to do in Orange Beach, and the evening getting dressed up for dinner, all without ever feeling rushed.
One of our favorite experiences was setting up a private beach picnic with Beachside Blankets. Having everything styled and ready right on the sand felt elevated but still relaxed. I honestly think we had as much fun taking photos as we did enjoying the pincnic.
If you’re visiting with friends or family, you could also book a class with Sand Castle University for a playful beach activity that’s a little different from just laying out towels (but hey you can just sunbathe too, no judgement). It’s actually a lot of fun, even just for adults!
Lunch and dinner are just as easy. We went out to The Gulf, Zeke’s, CoastAL, all within a short drive. We spent one evening exploring The Wharf, including dinner at Villaggio Grille, followed by finding the only speakeasy in the area. Because spring and fall tend to be less chaotic than peak summer, reservations are easier to secure (and sometimes not even needed), and everything feels more laid back.
So Many Things to Do Nearby
Beyond the resort itself, there’s no shortage of things to do in Orange Beach and Gulf Shores. You can read my full guides here:
Having a comfortable beachfront base at Turquoise Place makes it easy to explore during the day and come back to relax in the evenings.

What to Know Before Coming To Orange Beach
Check the status of beach flags, posted daily to indicate water conditions in the Gulf. Double red means the water is closed to swimmers, red signals high hazard, yellow indicates medium hazard, and green means calmer conditions. Always check the flags before wading in.
Sea turtle nesting season typically runs from May through October. During this time, you’ll notice orange lighting at night and reminders to keep the beach dark and clear. These guidelines help protect nesting turtles along the shoreline. Stop by the Orange Beach Welcome Center for stickers to cover your cell phones and flashlights so you can enjoy walking the beach at night!
Getting There and Getting Around
The easiest way to get around Orange Beach and Gulf Shores is with a car. While you can walk straight onto the beach from Turquoise Place, driving makes it simple to reach restaurants, The Wharf, and other nearby attractions. Uber and Lyft are also available.
You will first register and check in online through the mobile app, available 7 days before your stay. When arriving at Turquoise Place, you’ll receive a text when the room is ready for check-in. Once it is ready, you can show the guard your check-in text and they will let you in to park on the lower level.
Stop by the front desk to pick up your welcome packet with keys and parking passes.
Parking requires advance vehicle registration. Garage parking on-site is guaranteed for up to two registered vehicles per reservation when booked directly with Spectrum Resorts, and additional vehicles are charged a daily parking fee.
Who Turquoise Place Is Best For
Turquoise Place is an especially strong choice for girls trips, multi-generation or family vacations, or work-cation style getaways where space really matters. The multi-bedroom condo layouts, multiple bathrooms, large kitchens, and private balconies make it easy for everyone to feel comfortable without stepping on each other’s toes.
It’s also ideal for travelers who want a true beachfront stay on the Gulf with resort-style amenities included. You get the lazy river, pools, sauna, gym, and on-site dining, but you also get the privacy and flexibility of a vacation rental. For groups who want to cook some meals, spread out, and still enjoy a beach resort atmosphere, it strikes that balance well.
Another factor that contributes to a more relaxed feel, especially in the spring, is that alcohol is not allowed on the beaches in Gulf Shores during spring break. That policy helps keep the beach environment more family-friendly and less party-focused, which many groups will appreciate.
Who This Stay Might Not Be For
While Turquoise Place is excellent for groups who want space and amenities, it may not be the right fit for everyone.
If you’re traveling as a couple, a small family, or solo and don’t need tons of bedrooms and multiple living areas, the size of the condos could feel like more than you need.
Travelers looking for a smaller, more intimate stay with a focus on eco-conscious design and direct access to protected natural areas may prefer something like The Lodge at Gulf State Park, which offers a different atmosphere inside the state park and can be a great option for couples or smaller groups.
It’s also worth noting that this is a full-scale beach resort. If you’re looking for a boutique-style hotel experience or a highly minimalist stay, a condo resort like this may feel more expansive than necessary.
That said, for a group like ours, we found it was exactly what we needed on our girls work-cation getaway!
